The Twitter debate

Because «freedom» is sexy

Heraclitus, an ancient Greek philosopher who lived around 500 B.C., said, «There is no permanent reality except the reality of change». The Greeks were smart, weren’t they? Let’s talk about the topic on everyone’s lips these days which is Elon Musk and his purchase of Twitter. Did you know that there are about five companies that essentially have a monopoly on human attention? Until we take back control and change that, anyone who thinks they know exactly what Musk is going to do with the platform is delusional. He’s a self-made entrepreneur and is (notoriously) unpredictable, but talented at business and getting what he wants. I imagine Twitter was put in front of an ultimatum - I’ll buy you out, or I’ll sell all my stock on the cheap. And it got their attention. Many are skeptical, however, like it or not, he got what he wanted. I actually think his madness is pretty sexy. Now, let’s think about his view of free speech. The last few years have revealed that we are still controlled about what we see most of the time. I imagine that change will be good for us, and if it doesn’t, I have no doubt that Musk is the kind of man who, if this all degenerates, will delete Twitter and we can get on with our lives as before. All those individuals, on Twitter and elsewhere, will make sure that they are heard, whether Elon is at the helm or not.
